Slick Willie's Paradox

Words and Music
Steve Graham

What do we see from the dark side of the mirror
Reflections of someone vaguely familiar
Remembering all the dreams from there to here
Trapped in a memory with all our fears

We’re all alone together in couples two by two
Waiting in silence for nothing left to loose
What would we do if our hearts were aroused
Keep on keeping on, passion’s not allowed

Kafka told his stories and we saw his world up close
Guevera took a trip and found that bad was getting worse
They saw the world so clearly we had to see it too
Every answer begs the question, every lie holds the truth

We’re all alone together in couples two by two
Waiting in silence for nothing left to loose
What would we do if our hearts were aroused
Keep on keeping on, passion’s not allowed

Down at Slick Willie’s a wager was made
We were a little excited, a little afraid
Having fun but we couldn’t stay
You can’t afford to loose; you can’t afford to play

We’re all alone together in couples two by two
Waiting in silence for nothing left to loose
What would we do if our hearts were aroused
Keep on keeping on, passion’s not allowed
